Two years for murder. Incredible, and disgusting.
Johannes Mehserle, a former BART police officer, murdered a young unarmed man named Oscar Grant III on New Years Day 2009. Mehserle will be released tomorrow morning (June 13th, 2011) at 6AM after serving a minimum sentence of two years for ‘involuntary manslaughter.’ The truth is and will always remain, Mehserle shot Oscar Grant in the back while he was pinned face-down on the floor of a BART station by another officer in front of hundreds of witnesses.
We are all Oscar Grant, and our lives matter.
